Trying to capture the essence of the Pakistani woman, my body of work is based on a series of self-portraits. They tell the story of a regular girl, who grew up in the fast-paced city of Karachi; who dealt with disability, bad decisions, aimlessness, and the fight against the norms and rules which the society imposes on women; who wished to go somewhere higher in life and finally discovered what and how she wanted her life to be like.

– This work was published in a book titled KAM SUKHAN by MARKINGS. Showcasing Quratulain Khalid’s work alongside 8 other female photographers in Pakistan.
